Young Explorers

Forest school playgroup for little ones 0-5 years old and their grown ups

  • Spend quality time outdoors together

  • Learn about the seasons, plants and animals

  • Get creative with nature inspired crafts and activities

  • Explore local wild spaces

  • Have fun, be curious and connect with other families

This session also supports the well-being of parents and carers, through opportunities to get together, develop confidence in nature, relax and experience the benefits of being outdoors through the seasons.

When:
Mondays 10am - 12 noon, at Bevendean Community Garden

Includes refreshments - drinks and a healthy snack/ shared food for a light lunch. You are welcome to bring your own/ picnic in the community garden afterwards.

Choose what you can afford - we use scaled pricing and seek funding to make sure that cost isn’t a barrier:

£12, £8, £5 or £3 for one adult and one child

siblings £5, £3 or £1

Please note: spaces are limited, to keep group sizes friendly and manageable, so drop in spaces are not guaranteed -please contact us before coming.. When we are close to capacity, we prioritise spaces for people living in the BN2 4 area.

Teen Forest Club

Empowering girls aged 12-17

Do you love being in outdoors in nature and hanging out in the woods? 

Following a successful pilot last year, Fernee Forest Club is running another series of inclusive forest school sessions for young women aged 12-17 (trans and non-binary peeps welcome) at Bevendean Community Garden and Woods. 

Fernee Forest Club has run popular teen forest club sessions in the past and is looking to specifically engage young women in outdoor adventures, community, creativity, confidence and empowerment.

What we’ll be doing: 

  • Exploring local woods and Bevendean Community Garden

  • Connecting with each other and the natural surrounding

  • Bushcraft - fire lighting, shelters and need-to-know knots 

  • Building dens 

  • Campfire cooking

  • Woodland and nature crafts 

  • Mindful nature connection activities 

  • Pond dipping

  • Chilling in hammocks! 

  • Making obstacle courses, rope swings and walkways

  • Having fun on the slackline!

  • Fun games and outdoor adventures

  • And lots more!

When:

Fortnightly Fridays 4-6.30pm

Spring/Summer 2026: 15th May, 22nd May, 5th June, 19th June, 3rd July, 17th July

Fire and Feast Family Events


Family forest school events for all ages:

  • have fun in nature as a family

  • eat together around a fire (snacks included)

  • try nature inspired crafts and activities

  • celebrate the seasons with us in Bevendean Community Garden and Woods

Ideal for families, children of all ages welcome. Young people encouraged to get involved - volunteering opportunities available.

Families encouraged to bring something to share around the fire if they can: some food, a song, a story or something else!
